VoIP: Voiceover Internet Protocol

Voiceover Internet Protocol (VoIP) is the new wave in phone technology and is not going away any time soon. There are too many benefits of having it, especially if you are a CEO or a financial advisor of a company. There are still numerous problems that are being worked out by developers, but it truly is a revolutionary contact system. Voiceover Internet Protocol is the primary means of communication for most companies. Soon I think it will be the primary means for households as well.

Voiceover Internet Protocol (VoIP) is inexpensive to the customers of it. Many people pay a large amount of money each year on long distance and Voiceover Internet Protocol almost eliminates these large amounts that are being charged. Even the money saving long distance companies, like 10-10-834, are going to become less frequently used. It is more cost efficient for people to purchase a PC and all of the necessary equipment to operate and maintain Voiceover Internet Protocol than it is to keep their current long distance providers. This is a huge benefit to people, especially considering the cost of gas and the rising cost of living today. But, this obviously is the biggest worry for the major telephone providers.

Voiceover Internet Protocol (VoIP) also provides so many benefits other than costs, including using your Voiceover Internet Protocol connection anywhere that offers the internet, availability that companies are now able to offer with little costs, and typically has all of the features of a regular phone. You can connect to your Voiceover Internet Protocol account from anywhere in the world as long as you have internet access. This almost eliminates the need for a cellular phone and I have never seen anyone that is able to take their home telephone on a business trip or even vacation with them. Voiceover Internet Protocol offers these opportunities to everyone.

The companies that currently have Voiceover Internet Protocol (VoIP)are able to maintain higher customer service levels, because lets face it. It is beyond aggravating to sit on hold for hours only to get a recording that tells you they are not open and to leave a message after the beep. I love the idea of being able to contact any company I want at anytime and talking with a live person and I am sure I am not the only one that feels this way. Voiceover Internet Protocol allows companies to route calls to one location, so that they do not have to pay several employees wages for second and third shift work. They can pay one locations wages and services overnight and cover the entire world customers. One person can literally handle all incoming calls, no matter what location the customer was originally trying to reach. That is customer service if you ask me. Even if the department I am trying to reach is currently closed and I end up leaving a message for the person I called, I am much happier. I did not have to sit on hold for very long and I did not have to talk to the stupid machines right out of the gate. Ironic isn’t it. The machines that most people hate to talk to are now making it possible for companies to avoid these machines.

These greatest thing is that people don’t have to give up anything that their current service offers them. They can even get more than their current provider offers. What I mean is that call waiting, forwarding, messages systems, etc. are all still available with Voiceover Internet Protocol. But people can also send faxes through it. People can carry on multiple conversations with different people. This would be great if you are on hold for ever and you need to talk to your sister or other family members. You can just dial another line using the same connection talk to your relative and switch back over when the person that you are on hold with picks up.

A couple of the problems that are being faced by these providers and developers are reliability and background disruptions. Reliability is the major problem being faced with Voiceover Internet Protocol. Too many people on the same connect or too many windows running at the same time can cause the conversations to break up and lose calls. If the electricity goes, out there is no way to contact anyone, especially if an emergency arises.
